Well another year is over for the Limerick Film Festival and I have now switched my attention back to other projects (Editing the Film Limerick Trilogy Films, Behind The Scenes, LIT Work and the Doctorate)

We had a great festival, with an increase on numbers overall for the guest speakers, screenings and Awards show.

The full edited version of the Short Film Awards show can be found by clicking the image below.

Thanks to all who helped out… (too many to name here) but you all know who you are.

I’ll be working over the summer on next years details and structure and hopefully in September there will be more information to give you.

Simon.

Lyric FM to broadcast Episode 6 of Cultural Passions by Grey Heron Media Sunday 27th at 5:40pm

A couple of months go Maeve McGrath (Producer/Actor), Dave Burns (The Royal) and myself were interviewed by Grey Heron Media’s Diarmuid McIntyre for their Cultural Passions Radio programme. This episode was recorded at the Theatre Royal Site which is the location of the future Royal Project for Film and Visual Arts.

The episode concentrated on the venue as well as the ever growing film industry in Limerick. A number of areas of the industry were discussed while also taking a walk through and around what was one of the finest examples of the vintage cinema spaces Limerick had.

The radio programme is on at 5:40pm Sunday 27th on Lyric FM and is on Limerick’s Live 95FM durning the week.

Well done to Diarmuid and the team at Grey Heron Media.

I had the pleasure today to be apart of a select group of film enthusiasts who were interviewed on the passion we all share for the medium of cinema.

Diarmuid McIntyre and Mairead O’Connor of Grey Heroin Media invited us to a special recording at a special venue, The Royal Theatre on Cecil Street, where we discussed the future plans of the Royal as well as the increasing film industry in Limerick.

“Grey Heron Media has begun production planning for two new series which are part of a unique joint commission by Limerick’s Live 95FM & RTE Lyric FM as part of the celebrations for Limerick’s year as Irish National City of Culture.

Grey Heron was commissioned jointly by both broadcasters to create two special series that would each explore the character and culture of Limerick in 2014, but in two very different ways.

These two ambitious series will be produced and broadcast in this year of celebration for Limerick city and county.”

I’ll update on the Broadcast date in due course.
