On Sunday 13th July I had the pleasure of filming Limerick’s national day of Commemoration at City Hall. The rain stayed off long enough for representatives of several religious and political backgrounds to honour all those Irishmen and Irishwomen who died in past wars or on service with the United Nations.
The completed DVD was produced for Limerick City and County Council.

On June 14th I had the great pleasure of filming the Ordination of the Reverend Edna Wakely to the Priesthood. This event took place at the landmark and historical setting of St Mary’s Cathedral, in Limerick City.

With a large audience in attendance as well as a full choir and parish guests, the ordination was recorded using a 5 camera setup in strategic locations around the cathedral.

The post workflow was a ‘multi-cam edit’ in Avid Media Composer and finally outputted to DVD and digital file for posting.

A great evening was had on Saturday 17th May with Director and Editor Julian Doyle.

“Filmmaker Julian Doyle, best know for his editing work on some of the most beloved and influential films of all time. His credits include Brazil, Time Bandits and The Life of Brian. He’s the one who worked out how to chop the Black Knight’s limbs off. He shot the dream sequences in Brazil. His is the hand that covers the camera at the end of The Holy Grail.” (http://www.limerickroyal.ie/royal-picture-show)

If you missed any of the screenings for the Royal Picture Show then don’t worry it’ll be back in September for its third installment.

The 5th Annual Limerick Film Festival will be formally launched on Monday 24th March at 12pm at the George Boutique Hotel.

Formally the LIT Film Festival, The Limerick Film Festival is now a key component of the film festival circuit in Ireland. This year’s programme will attract filmmakers from across Ireland and further afield to Limerick for the three-day event, which runs from Thursday 10th to Saturday 12th April.

Director, Simon McGuire, is delighted to have received support from Limerick City of Culture. According to Mr. McGuire, “Changing the festival’s brand name and moving it to different locations around the city is an ambitious challenge but in doing so, we hope to expand the festival and put Limerick on the map in terms of filmmaking and media.”

This year’s film festival will include:

Professional equipment and industry workshops

Film screenings

Guest speakers

The now renowned Short Film Awards Night.
