Officially launched at #RHIFF2016 we are now actively seeking content from film-makers for RHIFF T.V. our VOD (Video on Demand) service powered by SHIFT72. Those of you who have screened at or submitted to previous #RHIFF’s will receive your email invitation in the coming days or submit for consideration via the embedded form here.
2015 saw #RHIFF take a huge leap in content and screenings under a new creative and programming team. The introduction of workshops, acting master classes, the #RHIFF culture trail and monologue competition extended the reach of the festival making it more than just a film event. Now #RHIFF is more in line with the interests of it’s namesake the legendary Richard Harris, a man who loved poetry, theatre and singing as well as film.
New for 2016 was the introduction of a theatrical piece, a musical event, “an audience with.. ” and a live script read of Shane Connaughton’s Pirate Queen in association with DeWarrene Pictures. 2016 was our first year to host an industry event during the Cannes Film Festival at Morrison’s Irish Bar, owned by Limerick native Rob Ryan. 4 Irish shorts were screened and it was such a success we hosted the event again during Cannes 2017, this time showcasing #womeninfilm and screening again in Limerick 2nd June with a thoroughly entertaining and engaging Q&A.
2017 will see many more satellite events take place, nationally and internationally promoting films that have previously screened at #RHIFF. April saw us take films to Newport Beach Film Festival, May was Cannes, June started with #wif screenings in Limerick but June isn’t over yet… watch this space!
Even with the increase in screenings of short films and features in 2015 & 2016 it is still not always possible to screen onsite all the films we would like to share with our audiences, with this in mind and to promote short film internationally RHIFF set up #RHIFFTV. WE now see #RHIFF as being “onsite, online, always on”.
#RHIFFTV will give audiences the opportunity to watch old favourites from previous years screenings. It will also offer engagement with those films that due to time constraints we just couldn’t screen. If you do happen to see a film missing from our #RHIFFTV catalogue, check for one of our satellite events or one of the film festivals we collaborate with, as those films are probably coming to a screen near you before the end of 2017.
