Tuesday evening, (10th Dec), saw the inaugural Monthly Meet of Mid-west Film Makers and community at the Film In Limerick HQ, based at Engine, Upper Cecil Street. Organised by the newly appointed Film Coordinator for Limerick, Paul C. Ryan, a fine turn out arrived to listen to insider tips and tricks of pitching for Film given by Writer Brian McGill.

Taking the audience through his unique process, Brian gave stories about his experiences of pitching, the what to do and not to do, as well as discussing the ideas of hooking the panel’s attention for that all important funding.

Afterwards the audience were invited to a Christmas drink where networking and idea sharing were the top of discussion between the many talents who attended.

This was the first of what is a new monthly film group which is hoped to inject new enthusiasm for filmmakers in the region in conjunction with the continued success of Troy Studios in Castletroy.

I enjoyed the workshop and as a documentary film maker there were some new approaches I may try out for those all important pitching sessions in 2020.

Well done to Paul and Brian on what was an enjoyable meeting on a cold and wet winters evening.
